PU acoustic underlayment for Flooring

ANIKA PU acoustic underlayment is a resilient polyurethane foam roll designed to help reduce the transmission of footfall and other impact noise through compatible floor assemblies. The range includes 1.2, 2, 5 and 16 mm thicknesses for different flooring systems and project requirements.

Options are available for selected engineered wood, laminate, SPC and vinyl flooring systems. The 16 mm option can be specified for compatible floating screed assemblies. Confirm the required thickness and installation method for your floor build-up before ordering.

How the Underlayment Works

The PU foam forms a resilient layer within the floor assembly, helping limit the transfer of vibration from footsteps into the supporting structure. Its roll format allows installers to cut the material to fit the floor layout.

Typical Floor Layers, Top to Bottom

  1. Compatible engineered wood, laminate, SPC or vinyl floor finish
  2. PU acoustic underlayment approved for the flooring system
  3. Prepared subfloor

In a floating screed system, the underlay sits between the structural subfloor and the screed. The floor finish is installed above the screed. Use the project drawings for perimeter isolation, joints and penetrations.

Choosing the Right PU Underlay

Which thickness is suitable for SPC or vinyl flooring?

Check the flooring manufacturer's limits for underlay thickness and compression, particularly for click-lock flooring or products with an attached pad. Share the flooring specification with ANIKA when requesting a recommendation.

How much impact noise can the underlay reduce?

Impact sound reduction depends on the underlay grade and the complete floor assembly. Request the applicable test report and compare the tested construction with your project floor build-up.

Can the rolls be customized?

Custom roll dimensions can be discussed based on your required thickness, order quantity and installation layout.
